EiA – ‘English only’ for two weeks at HAK/HAS Bregenz

This year’s oral preparation courses by the English in Action trainers took place in the two last weeks of May 2023 for almost 80 HAK / AUL as well as HAS future graduates to prepare them for the upcoming exams in June 2023. The three EiA trainers Dale, Lorraine and Richard each assisted the classes in their own way to achieve and develop fluency and proficiency using language fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs by creating innovative business projects, discussing current issues and having lots of fun practicing their English language skills. Additionally, the students held numerous presentations and took turns in interactive role-plays and activities on general and business topics such as sustainable tourism, diversity, environmental threats, shopping trends, viral marketing, entrepreneurship, and social media usage.

Here are some impressions from Vanessa, one of the course participants:

Thrilling action with English in Action!

From Tuesday, May 26 till Friday, May 29, 2023, the annual language workshop English in Action was held at our school. The goal of those four days filled with language activities was to improve the oral speaking skills of us soon to be graduates a few weeks prior to our oral exams.

We were trained by three awesome teachers, Lorraine, Dale and Richard with whom we didn’t just speak about random issues, but we intensely focused on topics relevant to the nature of our business vocational education. Tourism and its effects on society, advertising and marketing but also activism in our generation were topics we focused and expressed our opinions on, whilst improving our language skills.

Besides all the training we experienced during six lessons each day, we always had lots of fun because we did not just give our opinions on certain topics, we were able to widen our horizons through roleplay and different group discussion formats. Moreover, everybody was able to engage and therefore overcome insecurities and initial doubts about their language proficiency.

Overall, those four days were highly beneficial for our oral skills but were also packed with interesting thoughts and activities, no matter if you want to learn for your finals or just adore speaking in a foreign language!  (Vanessa Kammerlander, 5adb)
