EIA courses at HAK Bregenz 2019

Native speakers from the UK stayed at our school for 3 to 5 days, working hard on improving the speaking, writing, listening and reading skills of the students. The tailor-made course outlines of EIA focus on the topics for the final exams and are a big help for all students because they get useful tips and advice from experienced native speakers and thus are well prepared for their upcoming written and oral exams.

In the written preparation course, the trainers try their best to make the pupils speak, read and write « English only » for three days in a positive and encouraging atmosphere to improve their reading, listening and writing skills. Both trainers support the students in completing listening and reading tasks and give them professional advice for writing emails, blog posts, articles and reports or for designing leaflets.

In the oral preparation courses the EIA trainers help the classes to plan and develop innovative business projects and modules such as the Eden Project, the marketig strategies of Red Bull or a debate on London airports. Additionally, the students hold many presentations and do interactive activities on general and business topics such as tourism, diversity, start-ups, online shopping, advertising and social media.

Here are some impressions from Johannes, one of the course participants:

Wir Maturantinnen und Maturanten gingen während unserer Lernferien auf Reisen, um genau zu sein auf eine Sprachreise, denn vom 20. - 24. Mai fand an der HAK Bregenz die „English in Action“ Sprachwoche statt.

Während dieser Woche bereiteten uns die Native Speaker Lydia und Sam, Teresa und Corinna mit vielen interessanten Übungen und Aufgaben auf die mündliche Reife- und Diplomprüfung aus Englisch vor.Wir erfuhren, was einen überzeugenden und sichern Auftritt ausmacht und lernten wie man sich mithilfe des "Power-Posing" mental auf eine Präsentation vorbereitet. Außerdem bekamen wir wichtige Tipps, um Information spannend und interessant zu pitchen. Diskussionen, Dialoge und Spiele lockerten die Atmosphäre auf und vermittelten Spaß an der Sprache. Durch Interviews lernten wir auf gestellte Fragen einzugehen und mit Meinungsverschiedenheiten umzugehen. Und das alles in „English only“!

Am Ende dieser Woche fühlten wir uns selbst schon fast wie Native Speaker und waren perfekt für die mündliche Prüfung vorbereitet. Vielen Dank an unsere Natives für die Unterstützung.
